Biography
Eshrat Jahan is a Barrister of England and Wales with three years of experience in legal practice. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of London and subsequently completed the Barrister Training Course (BTC) alongside a Master’s degree at BPP University, London, UK.
Eshrat joined Avon Chambers in July 2024, where she has developed a diverse and rapidly expanding litigation practice within a relatively short period. Her professional experience spans approximately three years of legal practice, encompassing civil and commercial litigation. She also maintains an active family law practice, advising and representing clients in complex and sensitive matters, including divorce, child custody, and guardianship proceedings.
In addition to her civil and family law practice, Eshrat has experience handling complex land vetting and criminal matters, including bail and anticipatory bail applications. Prior to joining Avon Chambers, she worked with various law firms, gaining valuable practical exposure to a broad range of legal matters, including land vetting, family disputes, company law, and criminal proceedings. She is recognised for her analytical mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous professional development.
Alongside her legal career, Eshrat serves as a Lecturer at British Study Academy (BSA), where she teaches Criminal Law, Contract Law, Tort Law, Company Law, and Property Law. Her teaching experience has further enhanced her ability to explain complex legal principles clearly, confidently, and effectively.
Eshrat is also actively involved in academic and advocacy-related activities. On numerous occasions, she has participated as a judge in Mooting Competitions at London College of Legal Studies (LCLS) South, where she has assessed students’ advocacy skills, legal reasoning, presentation, and ability to construct persuasive legal arguments.
