Biography

About Farha

Farha Binte Azad Etu is an Associate with experience in civil and commercial litigation, company matters, family matters, criminal litigation and arbitration.

She has experience handling litigation matters from initial drafting through final disposal, with particular exposure to company matters, family disputes and writ proceedings.

In Pure Cotton Ltd v Perfect Fit Co. Ltd, she represented The Perfect Fit Co. Limited (Respondent No. 1 & 3) in Company Matter No. 1187 of 2024, handling the case end-to-end from drafting the Affidavit-in-Opposition through final disposal. The matter concerned an application for winding up under section 241(vi) of the Companies Act 1994. In its judgment dated 20 October 2025, the Court dismissed the winding-up application in full, holding that fraud is not an independent ground for winding up under Bangladeshi law, that the petitioner failed to establish contingent creditor status, and that the alleged debt was bona fide disputed.

In Shat-el-Ilias v Bangladesh & Others, she worked on the matter from start to finish concerning a Writ Petition for physical custody of two minor sons following the Family Court's visitation order in Family Suit No. 240 of 2026. The core issue before the High Court was whether writ jurisdiction should be invoked to interfere in custody, guardianship and visitation matters ordinarily reserved for the Family Court. In its judgment dated 17 May 2026, the Court discharged the Rule Nisi, holding that the petitioner had an equally efficacious remedy before the Family Appeal Court and that the Family Court remained the appropriate forum, while directing continuation of the existing visitation order and completion of the Family Court trial within two months.
