Biography
Farha Binte Azad Etu obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of the West of England, Bristol, with First-Class Honours. She subsequently completed her Bar Vocational Studies at City St George’s, University of London, UK. She is a Barrister-at-Law called to the Bar of England and Wales and is also an Advocate of the District & Sessions Judge Court, Dhaka.
Farha joined Avon Chambers in November 2024 and developed a niche practice in civil and commercial litigation within a short period. She has worked on complex civil litigation, with particular emphasis on money recovery, damages and compensation. She has also worked on family matters, including divorce, child custody and guardianship, as well as criminal matters. Her extensive legal research experience includes preparing legal opinions with a particular focus on banking and company law. Known for her analytical mindset and commitment to continuous learning, Farha is keen to broaden her proficiency through practical exposure and professional development.
Farha possesses strong verbal communication skills and a clear, confident vocal presence. She expresses legal arguments effectively in both written and oral discussions, while her persuasive speaking style enables her to communicate complex legal concepts in a manner that is accessible and compelling to clients and colleagues.
Before joining the Chambers, Farha taught Property Law and Tort Law at LCLS (South), an affiliated centre of the University of London. She also served as an Academic Guidance Supervisor, supporting students across all foundational law modules, and participated as a judge in the institution’s Mooting Competition. Her experience at LCLS (South) allowed her to engage with students and foster their ability to think critically and apply legal principles to practical scenarios.

Pure Cotton Ltd v Perfect Fit Co. Ltd — Farha represented The Perfect Fit Co. Limited (Respondent Nos. 1 and 3) in Company Matter No. 1187 of 2024, working on the case from drafting the Affidavit-in-Opposition through final disposal. The matter concerned an application for winding up under section 241(vi) of the Companies Act 1994, in which the petitioner alleged fraud and claimed status as a contingent creditor. In its judgment dated 20 October 2025, the Court dismissed the winding-up application in full, holding that fraud is not an independent ground for winding up under Bangladeshi law, distinguishing the Bangladeshi position from the Indian regime. The Court further held that the petitioner had failed to establish contingent creditor status and that the alleged debt was bona fide disputed, making winding-up proceedings an inappropriate remedy. The outcome reaffirmed important jurisdictional limits on winding-up petitions in Bangladesh.
Shat-el-Ilias v Bangladesh & Others — Farha worked on this matter from start to finish. The case concerned a Writ Petition seeking physical custody of two minor sons following a visitation order made by the Family Court in Family Suit No. 240 of 2026. The central issue before the High Court was whether writ jurisdiction should be invoked in relation to custody, guardianship and visitation matters ordinarily reserved for the Family Court. In its judgment dated 17 May 2026, the Court discharged the Rule Nisi, holding that the petitioner had an equally efficacious remedy before the Family Appeal Court and that the Family Court remained the appropriate forum. The Court directed that the existing visitation order continue and that the Family Court conclude the trial within two months.
